Does anyone know how to dye velvet curtains? I need urgent help?
I have a pair of really wide draped Pottery Barn, that a sage green Have color. They are made from velvet made of cotton and polyester. After I paid a fortune for them, I am renovating and would like to dye it either a chocolate brown or a pretty blue. Which would have more success and can it be done? Oh I almost forgot … They are lined … so what can I do about it? Would Fabric paint or fabric paint better? But I do not want it to look tacky … I want professional results. Anyone who can help me with this would be great. Thanks in advance.
The only dye that is working on a polyester disperse dye in a boiling dye bath … http://www.prochemical.com/directions/ProsperseImmersionPolyester.htm If using fabric paint on a large material, it is impossible to get a uniform color that leave your curtains with undesirable results, not on the temples or Fumes, the paint stick, it would work to get mention, if you wanted to tie dyed, or just add shapes using stencils or rubber stamps.
