The origins of Dobunni

The Dobunni Tribe of the North Somerset / Gloucester region were originally of Iberian descent from the Bell Beaker Culture People in Spain and Portugal. They are also known, in Brittany, where a tribe of Coriosolites traveled have announced.

It is my belief that some of these Strain can be sailed off the coast of Somerset, thus beginning the Dobunni. In fact, the Dobunni have understood the Coriosolites of Ancient Amorica (Brittany) are traded and the fact that the name "Corio shows' can be more than a mere coincidence to some of the early Dobunnic character. I would suspect that this in fact, indicating the origin of the tribe itself. It may well be that the head of time, perhaps the name of the Corio from the names of their ancestors as a sign of respect, or as a reminder of their ancestors.

While this group of Iberians landed in Brittany and Somerset, are further groups sail in the direction of Ireland and other Parts of southern England and Europe.

This brings us to the tribal name 'Dobunni', explains the importance of which has never been. The notation the name "Dobunni 'can not be on the Roman Latinization doubts about the pronunciation of the word attributed. Well, if one was to sound each syllable separately, then the same sound walk in the Irish Gaelic spelling, we get the following;

"Dubh" pronounced "Doo", which means dark or black hair.

"BUNAITHE" "Boo-Nee =" head office, or
create "BUNAICH" Boo-Nee "=, was set (Top) start, or possibly
"BUNADH" Boo-Na "= people, residents and
"BUNAIOCH" Boo-Na "= primitive

The implementation of this simply the name Dobunni 'literally means, either (The)' dark-haired (0nes) Determined (THIS PLACE), or perhaps only (The) 'Dark-haired man. "

Such a strain would have been to the fair-haired Celts, who came along later. In fact, one dark-haired hold of the Spanish and the Portuguese see, along with many of the Irish and long-term residents of Somerset, which still has the dark hair of the Dobunni to see the connection.

Meanwhile connection to the Iberian Dobunni is further supported by the cup sherds and vessels exposed and in the style of their hill forts that they left behind, in the particular Worlebury Dolebury and the stones used in building the city wall. Similar types of hill forts, stone used for their defense in Spain and Portugal are to be found, and are also found with some construction in Ireland.

Following the importance of Dobunni name, I think it is quite possible that the language of Dobunni may well have more detail than the Welsh Brythonic Gaelic on the Irish allegedly by the Celtic / British Tribes spoken. No doubt a merger of these languages over the centuries could have taken place. The original Gaulish was spoken on the continent during the rise of Christianity and the eventual Conversion extinct in Latin.

With the arrival of the Celts, were bound there were a few inter-tribal marriages between Dobunni and the Celts once established peace was, or perhaps as a means of establishing peace between one or more of the Belgian group. However, I believe that was the Dobunni, in essence, "the dark-haired PEOPLE ".
