Help with ceramic / ceramic ideas?

i `m in a pottery class at school. the first thing we did was a hollow ball of clay, it `s over the size of a grapefruit. should we build this sphere in all we do. My original plan was to make a sun like this. http://www.mexconnect.com/photos/1937-b0908-pa-bright-yellow-mexican-ceramic-handcrafted-sun-adds-year-large.jpg? 1231363706 but then my teacher said to us that we have to make a Totem (when I think of dead, I think of Indian tribes, but it doesn `t have to be so). our Project is high on a minimum of 2 meters. I was sun on the production, but I do not know what else I could do more or add to it to make it that high. could you help me pleeeeaaaasssseee with a few ideas what could I add to my sun, it would be big enough? & If you can `t think of anything for the sun, then any other idea would be soooo helpful! Thank you soooo much in advance! :)

You might be a totem pole in the order of the stars, Moon, sun, make a long crescent and meet at least two stars at the height requirement.
