What are good schools for casual clothes, nature-loving people?
I am a senior in high school, and most people would describe " me as a "hippie. I think I would agree PI am having a hard time finding schools near me that I feel suit. I am looking for a place where there are a lot of nature, casual wear / Hippie-ish people like me. Size (preferably less I guess) and academics not matter but the most important feature is that it has easy access to nature and outdoor activities. I love kayaking, hiking, climbing, etc., and I want a college where I can Spend time in nature with other free spirits like me. I am also very into music and art and crafts (paint, crochet, macrame, pottery), and I love cities with many independent shops and coffee houses where people play music. I live in GA and a college would be ideal in GA, so I can HOPE scholarship, but universities in GA seem like hard to find, so I can go from the state up to about 9 hours from Atlanta. Please help me and my future happiness! hahaha, thanks, peace:)
Interesting question … To be honest with you, colleges are finding a lot easier in the north-east (think Bates / Bowdoin / Colby / Middlebury, Vermont) or From the West (Colorado-Boulder/Colorado College / Oregon / Evergreen State / California at Santa Cruz) – these all are outside of a 9-hour drive Atlanta. But in the South, I would agree to Asheville with the other poster who recommended (Definitely check that out!) UNC, and I would also suggest Warren Wilson (in Asheville), Brevard, Appalachian State (both NC), and maybe even UT-Austin (okay, so this is more than 9 hours away, but it's still in the south …). Good luck!
