Grog!
I watched her skillful hands have the seemingly impossible. From a cold, wet lump of clay was a beautiful and functional work of art. The humming of her potter's wheel rocked me as I watched her hands covered with clay, together with the spinning wheel to create the shapeless lump into an exquisite Bowl. From the wheel to the Drying rack, the kiln at the art show, or store shelf – the process never ceased to surprise me. But what shocked and surprised me even more was what they did with the inevitable broken or damaged pieces.
I have wondered for years of creative expression within this art. For a few Years ago, I was happy to co-own the studio. The other owner is a potter. She held the ships and made them work so hard with delicate grace and care. It would Cup hands around her body with her fingertips as she remembered the time and place of origin.
Broken or damaged. . . my, how that has my Life at times applied. You know, each of these potsherds was designed with one goal in mind. . .
Applications for many of us it is what brings us up in the morning. Why do you do what you do? Did you answer: for family, for the future or save for financial ends meet today? All these things are valid and important. But life will change our bodies, our wallets and our minds at some point, sometimes we begin to question the meaning of life.
Hang on, imagine that the thought of profit and which, with me … this clay vessels … Plates, teapots, cups, bowls, cups, cans – each is for a particular Purpose shaped, hand made by artisans tenderly on pottery wheels. Have you seen thrown pottery and sculpture to perfection? Have you wondered after it glazed and fired to shine? I have. I have kept its forms and pursuing their lines. Each ship had crafted for the scheme and idea of the potter. Each piece formed a particular purpose. Okay, have the picture?
Sometimes, however, when we traveled up an art display or to a show that would damage the precious Pieces occur. No matter how carefully we wrapped or packaged, A handle would break a run or a bowl would crack the rim. Initially mourned I as the damage reduces the ability to run the ship. I was sad when I felt we "lost" a ship. When I learned about this art form, and share the truth of broken blood vessels rescued me from my despair over losses.
For a potter, the old sound better than new tone. If we bought a new sound, we would season by soaking in water or beer – letting it age, as it were. But the best part of the rendering tone for the deployment was "grog" or baked clay, which have been finely ground. Often, when we were ready, the new tone, my business partner would use the pottery vessels that had broken or damaged and it grinded to take into tiny pieces. You would then mix the old with the new. The old clay would meet the new tone and texture required required its purpose. The new old needed to get the best could run it.
Thus also in use and wear and tear, nothing was ever really lost. . . expected for each ship not serve its purpose, they had both the new tone and the "experienced" sound included. The fact that Clay, who was already through the fire of the furnace. . . through the "life cycle" a ship.
So, the damaged ship was only a part of something new.
It is one of the greatest truths I learned from Venture.
First steps older and change our physical, mental or financial ability do not have our efforts, determination or reason to change to live. The inexperienced need the knowledge and the wisdom of experience. Age has nothing really to do with the years on the calendar. You can seasoned in a range of life, yet unproven in another. All people need help. I need your expertise. Maybe you need me. Only through sharing can continue to grow. We must not in the Situation, all we used to do to do, but there are still things we can do and the things that need to be done.
Her life work is no more, because you do not all you can do what you are accustomed to do.
I urge you to view number in your future with this perspective: "How can I take what I know and put it to good use? Who needs what can I do? How could my unique gifts and talents to this organization? "
